Hello, everyone! First, Thank you for stopping by my page!
Let me tell you a little about myself and my journey led me to balanced dog training, my philosophy and why what I do is more than just obedience training.
I have had a passion for animals of all kinds my entire life. I have worked with, raised and rehabilitated everything from puppies and kittens to wildlife (raccoon, fox, geese, rabbits, squirrels) and exotic animals (tigers & wolves). Strays seemed to always follow me home. Each one teaching me so much, propelling further, my thirst to understand animal behavior, environmental affects as well as nutrition and physical health.
Fast forward to my adult life, a little Jagdterrier, I later named, Steeler, found me. He would challenge everything I thought I knew about dogs, animal behavior, my confidence, and give me more patience than I thought I would ever have. Seeking ways to connect with this terrier led me into the world of balanced dog training. I read books, searched videos, attended seminars…whatever I could to ‘fix’ his behavior.
So, I am familiar with that frustration you are feeling; that ‘I can’t take any more’ feeling. I have been where you are and here to tell you, it doesn’t have to stay that way. Bringing back balance and harmony in the relationship you have with your pooch is my goal. Much of that starts with helping you to understand the why in your dog’s behavior.
I have been privileged to study participate in Train the Trainers (www.trainthetrainerswithjeffandsean.com) with renowned trainers Sean O’Shea of The Good Dog, and Jeff Gellman of Solid K9. I have worked for the amazing and reputable, Curtis and Meredith Craig of The Calm K9. They originally helped my Steeler, later became my employers, mentors and now my good friends. Absorbing as much information about tricks, tools, techniques, different philosophies and a dog’s instinctual thinking is still a high priority. I continue to read, attend seminars, watch videos of my many mentors as often as possible. Even more importantly, I observe behavior.
It would be an honor for me to be a stepping stone in your journey with your furry friend. I look forward to taking you and your dog on a journey of transformation and understanding. We will work together to create trust, respect and mend the relationship between you and your dog.
